OVERVIEW: |
The main idea is that students from Scotland and Germany work together on a crossmedia project with an intercultural focus. These intercultural student groups will develop short films/documentaries, photos, texts, audio streams and finally integrate the results into a web platform.
|
THEME: |
Theme: Transformation / Regeneration / Change
The theme is there to inspire interaction and invite a diversity of responses – it might for example include a look at the reuse of space and/or buildings over time; urban regeneration; or it might include more personal responses such as how attitudes and preconceptions change when people visit new places, meet new people or encounter new ideas. How the landscape changes, how culture influences enact change . Alternatively, the developed responses could be far more abstract – for example, looking at how light transforms a scene or how some scientific process or experiment embodies or enacts change etc.

MISSION: |
phase #1: starts with a one-week kick off-workshop (first week of march 2010) where the students from FHB will meet their fellow students from the »University of the West of Scotland« in Glasgow. First they will form intercultural teams (team building process) and work on the specification of the main project topic . Then they will start the field working process with interviewing, shooting, filming, recording to collect their »cross media« material (video, photo, audio, texts). They will collect, share and manage their data collaboratively on a web-based platform. Concurrently a group will work out a web concept for the web platform. The platform will function as a work environment as well as a communication and presentation tool.
phase #2: (second week of march to third week of may) starts after the workshop when the FHB students will be back from their excursion to Scotland. They will continue to work in distributed teams and develop the web plattform to present their work. Above that they will prepare for the final phase of the project (field work in Germany, presentations etc.).
phase #3: (last week of may) will mainly take place at the FHB campus when the Scottish students are coming over to work together with their German fellows to continue their projects (1 day for preproduction, 2 days for filming, photographing etc., 1-2 days for postproduction) and present the results as a team on a closing event.
